I got to film a rare and exciting moment for The Secret Life of the Zoo. Operating a fixed camera rig overnight to see the birth of Aayu, joining older sister Nandita. Unfortunately the younger Elephants Nandita, Indali and Aayu didn't make it to adulthood and succumbed to the herpes virus which lives dormant in their bodies.
A clip from series 11 of Rip Off Britain. Shot by me.
I joined Director Graham Dixon with the BBC Arts & Culture Department to reunite the cast of Fame for this VT insert for the show. Once again I was second camera for this shoot, leaving Graham to direct and guide me on exactly what he wanted.
While working on The Secret Life of the Zoo, I successfully captured another live animal birth, this time with the rhinos in their enclosure overnight. Using a remotely operated fixed camera rig, I witnessed and filmed another key moment that became one of the show's highlights. It's always thrilling when new animals are born at Chester Zoo.
I was on Kate cam for this shoot during the interview. VT shot & directed by Graham Dixon.
